FIVE ALLUSIONS I LEARNED
1.Herculean Task
Hercules is an extremely strong hero in Greek legends. He has extra ordinary powers, super human strength and courage. So the allusion Herculean task refers to a work that needs a big effort or a task which is very difficult to do
Eg:- Holding a party at this critical time needs a herculean efforts
2.Gospel
Gospel is the teaching off Jesus Christ or any strong principal or system. So the allusion Gospel refers to the absolute truth.
Eg:- Believe me as I am telling you the gospel truth.
3.Alpha and Omega
Alpha is the first letter of the Greek Alphabet and Omega is a last letter of the Greek Alphabet. Therefore the allusion Alpha and Omega refers to the beginning and the ending of some things or the most important features.
Eg:- You should know the Alpha and Omega of the religion.
4.Cerberus
Cerberus is three headed dog. who guarded the entrance of the hell. His duty was to keep all the people in the hell. inside without letting them escaping. So the allusion Cerberus refers to the protection or the guarding of a place very well .
Eg:- Stingy (the miser) person guards his treasure like Cerberus.
5.Damián and Pythias
Damian and Pythias are very good friends. Once Pythias was Ordered to death. Then Damian took his placed in the death place. So the allusion Damian and Pythias refer to the sincere and royal friendship.
Eg:- My friend and I are like Damian and Pythias
